International Rolex Regatta

A highlight of the Caribbean racing calendar with its unique blend of island-style hospitality, competition and camaraderie, the St. Thomas Yacht Club’s International Rolex Regatta will celebrate its 39th year in 2012. Rolex has been a partner since the very beginning. The event features IRC and CSA (Caribbean Sailing Association) handicap racing, as well as one-design racing, in a beautiful setting. The distance race from Cowpet Bay to Charlotte Amalie Harbour and back showcases the coastline and offers competitors a great view of St. Thomas’ beautiful capital.

New York Yacht Club 158th Annual Regatta presented by Rolex
When: June 8-10, 2012
Where: Newport, Rhode Island
In even-numbered years, this annual regatta (the longest running in America) precedes the Newport Bermuda Race and traditionally attracts many of the competing yachts. In addition to racing in the weekend series, all eligible yachts may also compete in Friday’s separately scored Around-the-Island Race. Entry is open to yachts with a minimum LOA of 25 feet in IRC, Classic, 12 Metre and One-Design classes as well as the recently introduced Cruiser-Racer division on “navigator” courses.

New York Yacht Club Race Week at Newport Presented by Rolex
When: July 14-22, 2012
Where: Newport, Rhode Island
This biennial race week – in its eighth running – has become a favorite of sailors because of its unique split format: Classics, 12 Metre, Herreshoff S Class and 6 Metre classes racing in the beginning of the week and Handicap and One-Design classes competing at the end of the week, along with a mid-week distance race for all classes. Held on Narragansett Bay and Rhode Island Sound, with social activities at New York Yacht Club’s Harbour Court club house in Newport, Rhode Island, the regatta hosts hundreds of sailors on over 200 boats.

Rolex Farr 40 North American Championship
When: July 4-7, 2012
Where: Newport, Rhode Island
First held in 1998, the Rolex Farr 40 North Americans have consistently attracted both local and international talent from the class’s regional fleets around the globe. Raced on the west coast in 2011 (Long Beach, Calif.), the 14th edition will be hosted in Newport, R.I., at Rhode Island’s community sailing center Sail Newport.
Rolex Farr 40 World Championship
When: September 17-20, 2012
Where: Chicago, Illinois
Maintaining an extensive international schedule that revolves around regional fleets in the U.S.A., Australia, southern Europe and the Nordic region, the annual Rolex Farr 40 World Championship serves as the “crown jewel” of competition for the Farr 40 class. For the 15th edition, the regatta will make its debut in the “Windy City” of Chicago, Ill. The four-day event will bring together highly competitive amateurs and professionals from around the globe to race identical yachts over fast-paced and technically demanding courses.

Rolex Big Boat Series

Established in1964, the Rolex Big Boat Series takes place annually on San Francisco Bay. In 2005, Rolex became title sponsor of this prestigious regatta, which is comprised of extremely competitive one-design and handicap racing. Widely recognized as one of the most important sailing events in the U.S.A., this grand-prix racing regatta attracts top competitors and boats from across the nation and abroad.
