Finding a job on a yacht can sometimes seem a little daunting,
so to help ease the stress there are crew agencies dotted all
over the globe. Fort Lauderdale-Florida, Palma-Spain, Antibes-
France just to name a few.
If you are starting out, go to their websites and register online.
This process of filling out your application can take a long time,
so it's best done when you have some spare time. Some of the
Crew Agents have computers that you can use otherwise you’re
best off looking for one of the local internet cafés or free
WIFI hotspots.
As the industry grows, so do the regulations. Most yachts now
are asking that all their crew have a minimum of STCW-95 and
their ENG1. If you have all those documents saved into PDF files
on a flash drive, it makes the whole processvery easy to pass the details over to crew agents.

The alternative to the crew agents are social networking tools like Blue Ocean Yachting, facebook & myspace. You also have the old fashioned route of walking the docks & passing out CV’s to all the yachts.
Daywork
If you’re between boats or just starting out in the industry one option open to you is looking for daywork. Daywork is temporary work onboard yachts helping crew’s out with everyday jobs whether they be skilled or unskilled. Whether you are walking the docks or attending an interview, your appearance is always on show. Yacht crews always judge those that are coming to their yachts looking for work. Dressing neatly is a great way to improve your chances, so remember closed shoes & a collared shirt.
