The best possible way to find work is going to be via word of mouth. Unfortunately this is one of those industries where “it’s who you know”, that helps to get you that job. If you don’t know anyone then it’s time to start networking! BlueOceanYachting's Community, facebook or myspace are a great place to look. Just start looking for groups that are for people looking for work or other yachting groups. When you're in just network like a champion.
Now when you get into town, head out to the local yachty bar and start mingling. Many jobs are filled from chance meetings in local bars (just like my first job!) A must is to get in contact with the crew agencies that are conveniently dotted around the globe in yachting hot spots, start dock walking and handing out your cv. You might not get offered work straight away but you may find that some boats will offer you Daywork. There is one little piece of advice that I tell everyone when they start out. You have to stay positive and don't get discouraged from the knock backs. If you do your homework, know where the marina's are, do your fair share of daywork and dockwalking there is no reason why you shouldn't get a job. Just be smart about when you start looking, as the months between seasons tend to be a little easier, as crew get off and the yachts will need replacements.
